A poem for the broken soul

He sits around and watches the world pass by. He contemplated every moment of his life. He swallows his pride now, and he didn't back then. He thinks of her memories and eats him up from within. Love is beautiful and yet cruel as he sees.  She loves another and is happy as can be, a child in her arms of someone new. Something they talked about and reality they never knew. Watching the stars in his arms from a window by the bed at night, was her favourite pastimes as just flew. She'd watch him sleep yet he'd admire her beauty so elegant and deep. He knew when to close his eyes as quickly as she could peek. He'd wake up every morning to admire her beauty and angelic face. He'd push aisde her brown and kiss her forehead with a warm embrace. She always chose to be loved and yet wanted to be free. He was immature as could be, alcohol was his friend, and she his weakness. She searched to replace him for all his meekness. She found what she did seek, the price was heavier than they could bear. Out of the window he does but stare. Not at the stars, he ponders would she be doing the same. Awake are his emotions of love, till he remembers she doesn't bear his last name. He kills those emotions and moves ahead. He lays down to feel the coldness of his empty bed. He has a shatter heart with her memories in his head. Red is the colour of his blood which pours through his veins on slit wrists. He never thought love would have as such a twist. Missed is her presence and happiness for her is his best wish. The years they were together were eight yet the memories countless and foretold. Tis but a poem for the broken soul.
